How does a city
lose its present?
Begin with dispossession
as a natural act
that reproduces itself:
the clean time
of the colonizer’s
clock grows by fire
and other violent logics.
Breathing in the present
is obstructed – but the present
is never empty
– even if our experience
of it is – but is filled
with the work of reproducing
itself in its own image:
step away from the screen, down
your tools, wrap up
the meeting, finish the task, here
