Loïc Wacquant

Loïc Wacquant is professor of Sociology at the University of California, Berkeley, and Researcher at the Centre de sociologie européenne, Paris. He has published numerous works on comparative urban marginality, embodiment, the penal state, ethnoracial domination, and social theory translated in a dozen languages. His books include: Elend hinter Gittern (2000), Leben für den Ring (2003), Das Janusgesicht des Ghettos und andere Essays (2006), Urban Outcasts: A Comparative Sociology of Advanced Marginality (2007) and Bestrafen der Armen: Zur neoliberalen Regierung der sozialen Unsicherheit (2009). 
He is a co-founder and editor of the interdisciplinary journal Ethnography.
