The (far) right in Serbia
In Serbia, most of the political space is based on the right-wing spectrum, with rare exceptions. Although at the moment it seems that the right is in decline and that democratic, green and left-wing political organisations are strengthening, this is only an appearance. What has been clear in Serbia for three decades is that what seems overcome, inactive or impossible today could be knocking at the door tomorrow.
Irena Pejić is a political sociologist and PhD researcher at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philosophy. Her work explores issues of work and trade union organisation, the commodification of public services, and the position of women. She is a member of the editorial board of the critical portal Mašina. Her work has appeared in several media in Serbia and the region.
